Chuck Petersen was born and raised in Santa Barbara County, CA. He received a B.S. from Humboldt State University in Range Management in 1990. He then moved to Elko, NV to take a job as a range conservationist with the Bureau of Land Management. In 2000, Chuck began working as a range conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Elko and has been with NRCS since then.
Chuck is married to Jennifer and they have four children; Gabe, age11, Rachel, age 8, Elena, age 6, and Timmy, age 4.
His hobbies include playing hockey, hunting, fly fishing, coaching youth sports and tinkering as a backyard tractor mechanic.
He is currently working on a Master of Science degree in Range Science. His current project focuses on helping cattle to learn that sagebrush can be a good food during particular seasons and how cattle can be used as a disturbance surrogate in order to improve biodiversity in sagebrush dominated rangelands.
